The Newspaper Club

The Russell of newsprint

Newspaper Club has printed more than 10 million publications for everyone from students to photographers to banks to restaurants. They needed a brand and website to meet the needs of a growing, increasingly diverse client base. The hero of the new identity is the aptly named paperboy, Russell. A modern take on classic 50s mascots like Mister Minit and Mr Peanut, his job is to bring a sense of fun and exploration to the brand. The new logo plays on the classic newspaper masthead, supported by wood-type inspired typography that flexes between different weights for maximum impact. The colour palette is a celebration of newsprint, with ever-so-slightly muted yet bright CMYK process colours. We redesigned the website around ARTHR, their online production tool. We needed to make it easier for people to reach ARTHR - guiding users through a multiple choice-based production process in the minimum of clicks with improved information architecture and navigation, streamlined decision-making and clear calls to action.
